1. Who we are
Split2Trip is published by Emcorp (Sahinthan Punithanathan, sole trader (micro-enterprise), RCS Melun 842 863 011), 30 rue du Champ des Roses, 77127 Lieusaint, France. Contact: contact@split2trip.com. See also the legal notice.
2. The service
Split2Trip is used to keep the accounts of a trip between friends: creating a trip, inviting travellers to it (with or without an account), logging and scanning expenses, seeing who owes what to whom, and storing useful documents in the trip vault. The service is available on iPhone, on Android and partly on the split2trip.com website.
Creating an account, creating trips, inviting, logging expenses and viewing balances is free. At launch, all features of the service are free, including settling paybacks.
3. Your account
You must provide a valid email address and keep your login details confidential. You are responsible for what is done from your account. You can delete your account at any time from your profile (see the privacy policy).
4. The trip pass
The trip pass is not on sale yet. At launch, all features are free and no payment is requested. The rules below will apply from the day it is offered, at the price then indicated.
- What it is: a one-off purchase, for a given trip, priced at €1.99. It unlocks settling paybacks in the app for the whole group, and remains valid until the trip’s last payback. It is not a subscription: nothing is charged afterwards. A new trip requires a new pass.
- Who can buy it: any traveller on the trip. Only one pass is active per trip.
- Sharing: unless the buyer chooses otherwise, the pass is added to the trip expenses and split equally between the travellers, like any other expense.
- Where to buy it: in the app, via the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), or on the split2trip.com website, via Stripe. Payment is processed by these providers, under their own terms.
- Refunds: the pass is digital content supplied immediately after purchase. It is not refundable, except where required by law (for example in the event of a fault in the service). For a purchase made on the App Store or Google Play, refund requests are made to Apple or Google, under their rules. For a purchase made on the website, write to us at contact@split2trip.com.
5. Paybacks between friends
Split2Trip works out who owes what to whom. When you settle your share from the app, the transfer is initiated from your own bank, via an authorised payment provider ([PROVIDER TO BE CONFIRMED]), and you approve it with your bank. The money goes directly from your account to your friend’s: Split2Trip never holds the funds and is not a party to the payback between you.
You can also pay each other back however you like, outside the app, and simply record it there.
6. Your content
The expenses, photos and documents you add remain yours. You only authorise us to store them and show them to the travellers you have chosen, for as long as the service requires. You undertake to add only content you have the right to share, and not to use Split2Trip in an unlawful, fraudulent or abusive way.
7. Liability
Split2Trip keeps the accounts you enter in it: it does not replace any agreement between you, and we are not responsible for input errors or disagreements between travellers. We do our best to keep the service available and reliable, but cannot guarantee that it will be entirely free of interruptions or errors. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.
8. Intellectual property
The Split2Trip name, the logo, the app, the website and their content belong to Emcorp. Any unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. In the event of a significant change, we will let you know in the app and on this page. Continuing to use the service after such a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
10. Disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a disagreement, please write to us first at contact@split2trip.com: we will look for a solution together. You may also use a consumer mediator free of charge: [MEDIATOR TO BE COMPLETED]. Failing an agreement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
